We have been following the Covid-19 pandemic very closely since its introduction into North Carolina. It has been directed by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, the Center for Disease Control, and the National Institute of Health, to cancel or postpone all gathering of 100 or more people. The NCUS is choosing to cancel our meeting April 17-19 in Raleigh not only to comply with this directive but to also do the right thing in preventing exposure. This virus has the potential to overwhelm our hospital resources, cause multiple deaths, and wreak financial havoc. We feel strongly that we are doing the right thing in the face of this terrible pandemic we are facing.

I offer my most sincere apology on this cancellation and all money will be returned to those that have paid through check or PayPal. We have been an active state society for 39 years and this is the first time we have had to cancel a meeting; but, extraordinary circumstances require extraordinary action. We are the largest state society in the country, something we are very proud of, and know the only way we attained that status is due to our incredible members. We will continue to monitor this situation for determination of our fall meeting in October and promise to keep all of our members informed well in advance.

Thank-you very much for your understanding in this decision and know that we all at the North Carolina Ultrasound Society hope everyone and their families come through this pandemic safely.
